1.26 billion kWh of electricity saved in the first 6 months

Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) has announced that the country saved 1.26 billion kWh of electricity in the first 6 months. The amount is equivalent to 2.07% of commercial electricity.
The results achieved are due to EVN relentless efforts in the propaganda of power savings. Specifically, the Group is one of the active donors, participants and respondents to propaganda and energy saving activities, such as Earth Hour 2014, program in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on advocacy of power safety and efficiency period 2014 - 2015 and most recently, the implementation of the project to support farmers planting dragon fruit, the project to replace 2 million incandescent light bulbs with saving bulbs in 3 provinces of Binh Thuan, Long An and Tien Giang.

With the backup power systems, stable power provision, the Group has gained the output of nearly 70 billion kWh for the first 6 months, an increase of nearly 10% over the same period of 2013.

Discharge of hydropower reservoirs for production and subsistence

Not only a power supplier, EVN also contributes to the supply of water for subsistence and agriculture. The Group has cooperated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Directorate General of Water Resources and the Locals in the operation and regulation of hydropower reservoirs, to provide water for downstream areas, especially the Central regions – Highlands that suffer from prolonged severe drought.
